Le couteau Mercator a été conçu pour la première fois en 1867 par Heinrich Kaufmann. Il tire son nom de la traduction latine de Kaufmann, signifiant commerçant, et en Amérique du Nord, il est souvent appelé "Black Cat Knife". Au fil du temps, il est devenu un nom familier en Allemagne et dans le monde entier. À propos d'Otter-Messer - Otter-Messer a été fondée dans un petit chalet à Solingen, en Allemagne, en 1840. Ils ont commencé comme un atelier d'aiguisage traditionnel alimenté par l'eau.
